Non Agricultural/Environmental Consultation Experience:
2002 — 2004 Consultant for Global Switching Ltd. UK.
Global Switching Ltd. is a UK based telecommunications services provider who was working together with Sri Lanka Telecom. I over looked the project from design to completion over the above period. Here, though not involved directly in technical configurations, my technical background helped a great deal in making vital strategic decisions that made the project execution efficient and added to enhanced profitability. I was even able to propose a strategy and win approval to introduce cost reduction processes in to the design and general workings of the project, by maximizing the use of the equipment setup over several time zones that would have been otherwise redundant and idling over off peak hours.

I have worked with the Analysis teams under the CEO & Chief Analysts, as well as directed the project executions as the Lead Engineer, Productivity Specialist and Project Director. The position is consultative, and short-termed based on the duration of the project, on a case by case basis.
This type of consultation work was undertaken to supplement my M. Sc. program in Project Management
FUTURE PLANS
Be involved in Social Responsibility and Climate Change Mitigation via Environmental Forestry & Engineered Ecological Approaches
In my view the best approach to climate change mitigation is forestry. This has a proven track record of over 450mn years. If deforested land is re/aforested with a forestry configuration of agricultural crops that have specific industrial purposes like pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, industrial raw materials etc. via its produce then this enables sustainable forestry. Sustainable forestry leads to climate change mitigation by carbon neutral and carbon sequestering mechanisms.
Establishment of sustainable forests leads to water management techniques such as the Wewa Cascade System, which can alleviate global freshwater stress concerns.
Entrepreneurship is a good method for poverty alleviation especially when promoting income earning opportunity at the BOP. Better if this income can be channeled to the hands of the rural woman, via the formal banking sector. Given that a majority of the world’s poor fallback on agriculture as a default income source, the promoting of sustainable forestry agriculture in an entrepreneurship is a viable solution.
Brining these key ingredients together in a for-profit organizational configuration enables the solving of many key issues such as climate change, poverty alleviation, the energy crisis, food crisis etc. which leads to global sustainable development, and thereby corporate social responsibility obligations being met for the corporate sector.
My plans are to be a significant contributor towards the creation of such organizational configurations through Engineered Ecological Approaches.
