I consult for a wide variety of clients as an aquaculture expert and understand the entire production process from the early idea to the final marketing stages for many different species. I have a Ph.D. in Microbiology with more than 32 years of experience in the aquaculture of multiple species from early project idea stages to production to processing and marketing (includes but not limited to salmon, trout, catfish, tilapia, fresh and saltwater shrimp, cobia, hybrid striped bass, etc.). I have extensive experience in water quality, microbiology and environmental issues, animal husbandry, biosecurity, sustainability and animal health issues and virtually all aquaculture production issues in combination with solid and substantial business experience and a thorough and in-depth understanding of the science of aquaculture. Clients include hatcheries, farms, feed mills, processing plants, seafood marketing companies, publicly and privately traded companies, venture capitalists, NGOs, consulting organizations, banks and insurance companies. I have developed, manufactured, licensed, marketed and distributed many products in more than a dozen countries. I was a lead Aquaculture Certification Council (ACC) evaluator/auditor/certifier (have audited more than 60 processing plants, farms and hatcheries), a USFWS Title 50 Certifying Official, and a Fish Health Official for Canada. I have administered more than $1,000,000 in grants. My work has taken me to China, Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Philippines, all of Central America and the prime shrimp farming countries in South America in addition to a number of European countries. I routinely write articles for trade journals, speak at industry meetings and have been an invited speaker at many different venues.
