Coordinated a $14 million project for PS 45 to install a new boiler, upgrade the HVAC, update electrical and environmental controls, and conduct elevator repairs.
Managed a $6 million improvement project for PS 23, to improve exterior masonry and complete door and window renovations.
Directed the modular construction of 4 schools in Queens, a series of projects valued at $7 million total.
NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT, Brooklyn, NY 1994 to 1997
Project Manager: Fully coordinated construction activities for complex transit construction projects totaling $30 million. Held senior responsibility for field engineering, change orders, and progress reporting. Upheld compliance, safety, and customer satisfaction. Managed 8 engineers.
Supervised an $11 million roof rehabilitation of the 60-year-old Atlantic Avenue Station, Brooklyn, with the station fully operational. The arched roof spanned 6 tracks. Replaced columns, widened the street, and relocated utilities to render the station structurally sound.
Conducted a $13 million, 2½ mile subway tunnel rehabilitation project in Brooklyn, eliminating water leaks, repairing spalled concrete and steel, and replacing gratings and ventilators.
Rehabilitated the Fan Plant in Brooklyn for $10 million. Replaced existing equipment with four 78,000 CFM fans below a major intersection; installed electrical distribution equipment; and relocated utilities in the street

Principal: Directed consulting engagements for general contractors, primarily encompassing project management, quality control, litigation support, claims preparation and expert witness testimony. Mediated a settlement between a design-builder in AL and Ford to avoid litigation on a foundry construction project. Prepared an RFP for a $14 million museum renovation for the Smithsonian Institute. Supervised historical restoration of the Alexander Hamilton US Customs House.

Project Manager: Directed a series of Class A office building renovations, including 4 floors at Rockefeller Center. Estimated and bid projects, identified subcontractors, procured materials, and engaged in client relationship management. Delivered all projects on time and within budget.
SELECTED PROJECTS – EARLY CAREER
Metropolitan Boston Transit Authority's $1.1 billion mass transit/urban Southwest Corridor, featuring 7 subway stations, 2 Amtrak and 4 transit lines, 5 miles of park land, 36 bridge renovations, and 5 miles of roads.
Coordinated the urban design team with engineers, community groups, government agencies, and utility companies, and built the design manual and development plan to memorialize the community’s issues into the design so the project would not fail like its predecessor.
Innovatively designed corridor-wide solutions such as fences to create attractive spatial standards along the right of way. Designed bridges with the same curve radius across the highways as the curves on other segments of the transit system for a homogenous visual.
This project won the President's Award by the National Endowment of Arts in Washington DC, and was listed as Outstanding Engineering Achievement of the Year in 1988 by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Disneyworld’s Contemporary Resort Hotel, Orlando, FL, an award-winning, $102 million facility
Represented Disney’s interest during design and construction as Owner’s Representative.
Resolved animosity between the general contractor and the architect, which had caused a 1-year delay, by consulting with the architectural firm to dispatch its top 3 designers on-site full-time, thereby providing quick solutions to design issues.
Installed an innovative tile mosaic scene in the 5-story entryway, the largest ceramic tile installation since the Roman Empire. Each tile is 12”x12”, weighs 4 lbs, and is independently supported by a ¾” grout bed which is part of the concrete structure of the elevator shafts.
Charged with reducing the budget $1 million by redesigning the area surrounding the Contemporary. Eliminated expensive art work, however retained elaborate sidewalks, fountains, landscaping and architectural concrete.

Provided compliance oversight for the Army Corps of Engineers on $35 million worth of projects. Conducted engineering review, verified submittal accuracy, led field inspection, and corrected defects pre-installation, to aid the general contractor achieving schedule and cost goals.
Analyzed overruns for a subcontractor on the Venetian Casino Resort, Las Vegas, who bid $3 million but sued when costs reached $8 million. Identified the cause as delays by the general contractor and owner. Recommended a detailed report to support the subcontractor’s case.
Provided defense testimony that integrally factored into settling a fatal backhoe accident lawsuit at the White Sands Test Range in New Mexico. Defended the backhoe operator and his employer, and offered comprehensive knowledge of standards of care.
Investigated substantial delays from new, unproven technology as an Insurance Company faced a $30 million payment for liquidated damages for its client’s failure to complete the Las Vegas Monorail on schedule.
Issued expert testimony that was successfully settled on a case where scaffolding failed on a high rise construction site.
Saved a major corporation in a wrongful termination suit initiated by a general contractor who failed to complete a facility renovation. Analyzed charges, back charges, labor, change orders, and job costs, to build a credible record of costs used to settle the case.
