Expert Profile
My work in East Africa stretches back more than a decade, with a heavy focus on Uganda.
I am the co-founder and Executive Director of uNight: For the Children of Uganda, a citizen-sector organization that works to invest in young leaders and entrepreneurs to help in post-conflict reconstruction. The NGO's principle programmatic activities are in education and peer-mentoring.
I have also consulted for UNHCR on the status of northern Uganda's internally displaced persons (IDPs) and currently do business development consulting for Owino Solutions Ltd. (OSL) a Ugandan ICT firm that specializes in web development and bulk SMS services/ mobile marketing.
I thrive in developing projects that require me to bring together a diversity of personalities and disciplines to deliver results. I am well accustomed to working with virtual teams, communicating across multiple continents by conference call alone to get things done. My experience in Sub-Saharan Africa leaves me well-versed in the the peculiarities of doing business here. I have formed successful strategic partnerships with an all variety of actors - from international donors agencies, to local and central government, to multi-national corporations and engineering firms and am fortunate enough to have a wide and deep network of which I can make use.
I hold a joint honors degree in Social Studies and African Studies from Harvard University.
