Expert Profile
Active as a Professor and now commercial innovator in polymer technology for the past 30 years both within universities and recycling enterprises. He holds several patents for the recycling of food grade PET and other plastics and been instrumental in the introduction of post-consumer plastics in UK and Australia. His specialisations are developing advanced recycling technologies including food contact materials from post consumer waste, mixed plastics recycling, minimizing the carbon footprint of packaging; bioplastics for packaging; developing markets for recycled materials, and plastics to fuel technology..

In these projects, we have undertaken the following tasks:
Worked with the full supply chain of organisations involved in the selection, design, specification, manufacture and recycling of packaging.
Designed and/or adapted complete recycling processes that include the sorting and processing of wastes into single or complementary streams that can then be channelled into high value applications. This has resulted in products that incorporate the highest technical levels of recycled content in the market areas of plastics food packaging, building materials, logistics products, films and pipes.
Provided market intelligence studies
Conducted feasibility studies for businesses that have contemplated entering the recycling sector as a means of either capturing materials at low cost for reuse in manufacturing operations or as a means of adding value to the waste stream by refining or processing waste to allow it to be used as a substitute for virgin resins. This has included the development of an integrated business, marketing, and technology and manufacturing strategy.
Defined the availability of waste materials and the market opportunities for the recycled materials.
