I am a genomics professional with over 20 years of progressive experience in genetic analysis and biomedical technology development. With specific expertise in gene expression profiling (genomics) and genotyping using microarrays and capillary array electrophoresis systems, I was co-developer of the MegaBACE1000 DNA sequencer. She is the lead inventor on patents for improved methods of automation and separation technologies as well as pending patents for gene expression-based biomarkers diagnostic of immune tolerance and patient risk stratification in renal transplantation. She has been development lead on several product core teams including both array-based products (SNP 6. 0 array for molecular karyotyping, DMET) and separation-based multiplex test methods (MegaBACE1000, FluorImager, 373 DNA Sequencer). Elaine has led R&D teams of up to 8 scientists over the past 10 years with a primary focus on reducing cost/test by increasing throughput, automation or multiplex analyte detection. Key strengths of hers are the ability to effectively manage external collaborations, to administer grant-supported programs, and to run goal-oriented projects. She is board certified in clinical molecular genetics which required working in CLIA regulated laboratories at UCSF. Elaine has been an invited faculty member of the World Health Organization’s summer course “Genetics of Cancer” and has also spoken at over a wide variety of professional meetings including Chips-to-Hits, Lab Automation, American Society of Human Genetics, Pharmacogenetics and SNPs, and American Transplant Congress
