Expert Profile
I am a self-employed consultant in the areas of Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, and Business Development and Change. Many of my responsibilities in the corporate world have included the aspect of training, either in the Marketing, Operational, and/or Quality area. Everyone who knows me believes that I should have been a University professor.
I have a B. S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and a graduate degree in International Business from Florida International University. I have worked both in Europe, Asia and Latin America in varied positions along the organizational pole.
My main focus has been Global Management, and Business Development, Manufacturing Operations, and Logistics/Supply Chain Design. Most of the time, I have found myself in start up situations where companies need to setup their basic business structure, and need to develop a marketing plan for penetration. I have been involved with a number o ***** , from the non-profit one (including management & fund-raising), to Electronic Consumers (Computers), Textile (manufacture mops for export to the USA), Fast Food (Domino's Pizza International, Air Conditioning & HVAC (Carrier A/C, part of United Technologies), Supply Chain Management, and most recently with the airline industry. I have been VP for Commercial Affairs and Operations for Latin America for the last three-1/2 years with Cargo Service Center a fully owned subsidiary of KLM, Royal Dutch Airlines, one of the tremendous advantages of this last line of work was that I got to fly for free business class to Europe (on Standby basis, so sometimes I do not make the plane, and have to wait for the next one, usually the next day). Back in 2001, I made the decision to leave KLM due to the effects of 9/11. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Organizational Management with an emphasis in Finance and Leadership. I expect to defend my dissertation in August 2012.
On the personal front, I have been married for 18 years, and I live in Miami, Florida. I have two children, Gabriel who is 18 years old, and doing the first semester in College. He enjoys gymnastics, and Track and Field, and he is learning with me to Scuba Dive. My second son is Michael, who is 14 years old, and is beginning High School. My wife was an English Teacher, she taught English at the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade level at a local private school. I am an insatiable reader of books, and I like to run long distances as exercise and hobby. I love to travel, see other places, and above all experiment with local dining. I guess this is one of the reasons I have oriented myself so much to the international arena, and particularly to the financial and economic management of international organizations.
