Lane supports a number of organizations in a professional capacity working towards the delivery of triple, bottom line results. He has launched a green oil company, Biozoil International, to develop algal oil, an alternative to fish oil and fossil fuels. He is the Managing Partner for Solana Energy. There, he has develops and finances solar and other energy projects. Lane founded the first environmental exchange for water credits in the state of California, the Borrego Water Exchange. He is the managing partner for Ecovolve, working closely with its other partners to deliver a coherent message called the Green Check. He is a member of the Solana Beach Clean and Green Committee and active in community sustainability events. He was an active leader in the opposition to Proposition 23. He serves on numerous local committees and organizations advocating for a low-carbon future.
