Mr. Kotecha, CFA, is Founder and President of Structured Credit International Corp., a New York-based firm advising African and other emerging market clients on financings and ratings. Mr. Kotecha holds a Master's degree in management from the Sloan School of Management at MIT (1974), and a Bachelor's degree in physics and engineering from Harvey Mudd College in Claremont (1970), California. SCIC recently completed a study of the feasibility of a venture capital fund for East Africa and found a private equity investor for a new non-bank finance company in India that will make loans to Indian students to pursue graduate study in the US. Previously, SCIC has advised an African central bank on managing its reserves, an international investor on investing in a collateralized loan obligation (CLO) in South Africa, and an African reinsurer on its credit ratings.

Mr. Kotecha was an Adjunct Senior Fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations, where he directed the Council’s Roundtable on Capital Flows to Sub-Saharan Africa from 1999 to 2002. He was also a member of the Commission on Capital Flows to Sub-Saharan Africa sponsored by the Corporate Council on Africa, Council on Foreign Relation and the Institute for International Economics from 2002 to 2003. He chaired the debt subcommittee of the Corporate Council on Africa’s Task Force on Capital Flows from 2003 to 2005 and has been a member of the International Advisory Panel of the East African Development Bank since 1981.

At SCIC, Mr. Kotecha provides financial advisory services to emerging market clients. He was International Securitization Advisor to the Kingdom of Thailand from 1998 to 2000 and has advised numerous international financial institutions, banks, and governments. Until he founded SCIC in 1999, Mr. Kotecha was a Managing Director of MBIA (previously CapMAC) and of CapMAC Asia. He joined CapMAC in 1989 from Kidder, Peabody, where he was Director of the Market Analysis and Product Development Group in the Asset Finance Department, leading the firm efforts in UK mortgage backed securities markets and CDOs. At Kidder he advised Turkey, International Finance Corporation (IFC), and a number of other financial institutions. Until 1987, Mr. Kotecha worked for Standard & Poor's Corporation (S&P), where he founded and led the international structured finance department and the international public sector department. His responsibilities included all ratings on non-US structured financings, sovereign and supranational borrowers (such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank), export credit agencies and enterprises owned or largely controlled by national or regional governments. Prior to 1979, Mr. Kotecha worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
