As the managing partner of this boutique strategic consulting firm he provides the primary function of Strategic Business planning with middle market companies to create an environment of enhancing core competencies to develop competitive advantage in the corporate marketplace. The assignments include the development of the strategy, design of rollout of strategy and the implementation of the plan. He has worked with clients in a wide range o***** develops a tailored approach to strategic planning taking into consideration the unique business requirements, key management styles and internal and external environmental influences.
In addition, he has worked with clients in evaluating expansion strategies including merger and Acquisition Assignments, strategic alliances including teaming arrangements, joint ventures, etc. He works with large entities to enhance their supplier diversity programs to increase inclusion of minority owned business entities. Some of the companies include Estee Lauder, Cendant, Avis and Port Authority of New York.
BDO Siedman (1994-1996)
As BDO Seidman's National Tax Director, Michael ***** directed BDO Seidman's tax practice on a national basis, while helping to guide the local efforts of the firm's 40 individual offices. Mike joined BDO Seidman in 1994 after 24 years with Arthur Andersen & Company, most recently in the Tax & Business Advisory Division. He also directed Arthur Andersen's metro-New York Regional Family Wealth Practice and co-edited the well-respected publication, Tax Economics of Charitable Giving (11th edition). During his career, Mike has worked with a wide range of clients including multinational companies, middle market entrepreneurs, partnerships, individuals, and wealthy families. He has worked primarily with owners, CEOs, COOs, CFOs and Boards in developing business and tax strategies.
As the Director of BDO Seidman's Family Business Consulting Practice and Arthur Andersen’s Family Wealth Practice, Mike consulted on family wealth planning techniques, family office system reviews, structuring venture capital holdings and the tax aspects of holding and operating international family assets. He has also assisted family business owners in succession planning including: the development of outside boards, training of family successors, dealing with non-family executives, estate planning for the business owner, and use of freezes such as grantor trusts and family partnerships to hold real estate and securities. In addition, Mike has considerable experience in Strategic business planning, marketing and sales strategies and growth techniques for businesses. He has also worked with clients to develop investment philosophies, incentive compensation planning, organizational and operational efficiency models and long-term growth strategies. He has extensive experience in negotiations of national and international contracts and agreements.
Arthur Andersen & Co (1970-1994)
Mike has 24 years with Arthur Andersen & Co working with a wide range of clients including multinational companies, middle market entrepreneurs, partnerships, and not for profit entities. He has worked primarily with owners, CEOs, COOs, CFOs and Boards in developing business and tax strategies. Some of the client relationships involved global companies with multi-division and multi-location environments. The remaining segment of clients was medium and large emerging businesses and/or family run enterprises.
During his tenure at the firm he headed several regional industry/specialty groups including
Family Wealth Practice, Emerging Business Consulting, Partnerships, real estate and the Energy Group.
The two areas of continuing involvement during his tenure at Arthur Andersen were Energy related Companies and Emerging companies.
In this role, as head of Energy he served clients with energy interests. This included integrated and independent oil and gas producers. He advised these energy clients in all aspects of Oil and Gas taxation and finance ,deal structure , investor relations and reporting and infrastructure de-velopment.In addition, he advised clients on deal flow, structuring partnerships, joint ventures and structuring lease acquisitions, overriding royalty arrangements and offshore oil exploration. Some of the clients included Texaco, Damson Oil Company, Hydrocarbon Oil Company, the Clarkson oil company, the oil related interests of the Rosenstiel family, the oil interests of the Goelet family including the North central oil company in Houston. He has over 20 years expe-rience with the oil and gas industry.
In his role as head of the emerging and Family Owned Business segment, He advised the owners and senior management of these enterprises in strategic growth initiatives, expansion strategies, management succession planning, and tax strategies and organizational restructures. In addition, assisted in the development and negotiations regarding strategic acquisitions and joint ventures including due diligence, deal structure and exit strategies.
