After working in industry for 10 years, I have just completed my PhD in Computer Science from Heriot Watt University. My thesis was based on the design of an application to perform real-time 3D visualisation of textiles using current generation GPU cards and Microsoft MFC. I have also written applications using Qt to perform volume visualisation using isosurfaces and ray-casting.
