Michael gained diverse experience and received several promotions in the Safety & Loss Prevention department at Canada’s largest theme park. As a crowd management specialist he was relied upon as the security and operations subject matter resource in the design of a new 16, 00 person facility. In design requirements, Michael gave special consideration to customer experience, concert quality and emergency preparedness and response. Michael was also a team member and coordinator responsible for synchronizing the internal park resources with local emergency services.
After Michael gained considerable experience and made meaningful contributions to security and loss prevention within the park, he joined a privately owned group of companies where he quickly advanced to the position of Director of Operations. His excellent knowledge of physical security and investigation policies, standards, processes, operations, risk management and controls were all a great asset in his new role.
Due to Michael’s passion for collaboration in the advancement of the security and risk management industry, he seeks ways to contribute his unique combination of experience in a corporate environment and a for-profit environment to educate and influence corporate, government and proprietary organizations security requirements. His work on committees, teaching many people wishing to start a career in the security industry, and industry relationship building has led to him being a principal Security & Loss Prevention professional in the Region.
Michael’s self-starter approach, combined with his excellent interpersonal skills and his ability to motivate, negotiate, influence and build consensus with others moved him to his next role; General Manager/Vice President, Security Division for another privately owned organization. Michael has successfully achieved his new mandate of growing the revenue of the security business each year. Michael’s innovative ideas and strategic thinking contributes to his colleagues viewing him as a leader and an excellent people manager. He has a proven ability to effectively design and develop value added programs, tools and training that support business objectives and priorities. He takes on special projects to make use of his diverse skills; such as becoming the company resource for designing interior office space to consider people and process flow and integration of CPTED concepts.
Michael earned the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation, awarded by the American Society o ***** International. The CPP designation is recognized globally as one of the Security industries highest standards.
Michael earned the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation, awarded by the Global Risk Management Institute, Inc. The CRM designation is recognized globally as one of the Risk Management industry highest standards.
Michael has found that his role and community involvement increasingly utilize his skills to interpret and articulate security context in a way that is understandable to all decision makers, business units and non-security experts. Michael’s view is that physical security and risk management is a business-enabler, supported with the necessary programs to manage risks.
Michael is currently the Manager Advisory Services for the national firm REDD KNIGHTS GROUP Inc.
