Responsible for Genome Canada’s portfolio of technology programs, focusing on Science &Technology Innovation Centres and technology development. Provide authoritative advice on genomics technologies and research methodologies, direct the planning and development of programs, guidelines and policies and help ensure access to the latest technologies. Direct and oversee competitions for Genome Canada’s technology and bioinformatics programs, including the post‐award monitoring and administration of programs.
Previously worked as the Head of Genomics at the University of York, UK, in the Department of Biology– Technology Facility (TF). The Technology Facility is a state-of-the-art research solutions provider through the use of, and access to, a wide range of key bioscience technologies for research, training and technology development. The facilities provide a range of access options -from user led equipment utilisation to the Genomics lab dedicated expert staff undertaking experiments on their behalf. The Genomics lab also provide various training opportunities -including, but not limited to, one-to-one instruction, extended visits, tailored training, and hands-on courses. The Genomics lab is based on several key genomic technologies, including Next-generation and Sanger sequencing, genotyping, multiple microarray platforms and Real-time (Quantitative) PCR.
