I am a dedicated surgeon-scientist committed to biomedical research in basic/clinical and translational fields. I have extensive surgical training in various surgical specialties, mainly neurosurgery, as well as basic neuroscience research experience. I have proven expertise in project management and achieving goals while working effectively in teams and/or independently. I am looking for opportunities to use my existing clinical and research skills in the areas of my research interests:
• Development and validation of clinically relevant large animal models of neurotrauma (and other neurological disorders) as well as evaluation of therapeutic modalities (drug/device) for improving outcomes.
• Neuroimaging studies for traumatic brain injury, brain tumors and epilepsy in animals and humans-validating existing methods as well as exploring new options.
• Development and validation of effective behavioral and neuro-cognitive testing for mild brain injury in humans and animal models.
• Translation of pre-clinical study results to clinical evaluation using integration of neuroimaging and neuro-cognitive methods with clinical scenario to facilitate smooth bench-to-bedside transition.
• Use of neural stem cells in neuro-regeneration and brain repair after injury/insult.
• Integration of biomedical technology with neuroscience via implantable neural interface devices to improve functional outcome in patients with severe TBI/SCI and stroke.
• Outcomes studies to understand the cost-effectiveness of various treatment modalities for TBI and brain tumors and to use the data for establishing and improvement of global healthcare policies and practices.
