Multilayer Ceramic Chip Capacitors

We need experts in multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (mlccs) who have a broad view of the different types of capacitors that exist (e.G., sizes, capacitance, number of layers), applications, innovation areas and technical development goals, manufacturing methods, etc. We’d like to have one or more ~1-hour phone conversations over the next couple of weeks. I need help building a generalized cost model for multilayer ceramic chip capacitors from tape casted ceramics through to finished capacitor. Breakdown of materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead for each step or just a step-by-step cost. I realize this will vary widely by the specifics of the capacitor. It would be helpful to develop this for a specific example as well as to get a description of what the biggest cost buckets are. I'm particularly interested in how much of the cost is in the tape casting and sintering processes.

Ceramic, which is derived from the Greek word κεραμικός (keramikos), covers inorganic and non-metallic materials which are formed by the action of heat. Up until the 1950s or so, the most important of these were the traditional clays, made into pottery, bricks, tiles and the like, along with cements and glass. Clay-based ceramics are described in the article on pottery. A composite material of ceramic and metal is known as cermet. The word ceramic can be an adjective, and can also be used as a noun to refer to a ceramic material, or a product of ceramic manufacture. Ceramics may also be used as a singular noun referring to the art of making things out of ceramic materials. The technology of manufacturing and usage of ceramic materials is part of the field of ceramic engineering. Many ceramic materials are hard, porous, and brittle. The study and development of ceramics includes methods to mitigate problems associated with these characteristics, and to accentuate the strengths of the materials as well as to investigate novel applications.
