Environmental Impact Statement
I am the president of a local citizen group preparing our challenge to an upcoming environmental impact statement from the u.S. Navy regarding its' transition from the ea6b prowler to the ea 18g growler at naval air station whidbey island, naswi. Naswi uses an outlying field, olf, fifteen miles from the base to conduct field carrier landing practices, fclps. The navy has given itself a "waiver" to so use this substandard airstrip for this practicing. While doing the touch and goes the aircraft pass from 200-500 feet over hundreds of homes and thousands of people, many of whom are living in undesignated accident potential zones, apas. Because the growlers crash six times more often than its' predecessor, we want to hire a very qualified expert to evaluate the accident risk and crash potential.
