Meditech Early Warning Sepsis Detection
I represent the plaintiffs in a medical malpractice and wrongful death case in georgia, in which a patient was admitted to the hospital. During one evening at the hospital, his vital signs precipitously worsened, and we believe he became septic that evening. The hospital used meditech, but at the relevant time, it did not have the sepsis early warning detection system in place. No physician was informed of the patient's declining condition, and the patient died that night. We are interested in consulting with an expert knowledgeable about meditech's sepsis early warning detection system about whether that system, if enabled, would have automatically alerted any physicians or other healthcare providers of the patient's worsening vital signs and sepsis risk, and if so, what the content of that notification would likely have been.
