Marine Biology

I would like to know what the best solution to protecting fish populations is. I know that overfishing and bottom trawling are the main issues. I know that possible solutions are farm raising fish and increasing mpas (marine protected areas). Out of those two solutions, which do you recommend and why? Thank you.

Climate Change

Hi zintro expert, the zintro blog needs you! we are looking for expert opinions on the news mentioned below and would like to hear from you within the next couple of days. While we'd love your thoughts, we realize that your time is valuable, so here are a couple of things you need to know before deciding whether or not to participate: replies should be brief about 1-2 paragraphs and include your full name participation is voluntary no payment will be involved if chosen, you'll be named in the post and we'll include a link to your zintro profile which will generate more visitors for you wondering what the post would look like? Here is a sample: http://blog.Zintro.Com/2012/01/16/keystone-xl-pipeline-pros-and-cons/ here's the topic on which we'd love your thoughts: climate change some researchers are claiming that environmental factors such as discharge of sewage and plastics, overfishing, and climate change are creating conditions for jellyfish to proliferate. These experts have the controversial opinion that jellyfish, which have been on earth for over a half-billion years, have developed the tools to handle harsh environments due to our own mismanagement and pollution. They argue that more research funding and education is needed to study the issue further. Has the jellyfish population gotten out of control, and do the sea creatures pose a hazard to people who enter the ocean? Is more funding an important issue in terms of climate change? Getting your name and expert opinion published on our blog is a great marketing opportunity. If interested, please send us your response via znotes within a couple of days. Don't forget to include your full name. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you! the zintro blog team

Marine Biology

Brief description of sea water supply system at ***** , the problem we are facing and what we needs to find out. 1) sea water for all the cooling requirement to the refinery is being supplied by pai (public authority for industries) through 6 nos 72â€â sea water supply lines. 2) pai is taking the sea water from the sea through an intake channel to their pump house and the same is supplied to the refinery at around 7.8 bar g using pumps installed in their premise. 3) pai have screen installed in the sea water intake channel having opening not larger than 4.6 mm. 4) even though pai is supposed to provide us with sea water without any debris/ sea shells, our heat exchangers are getting choked frequently due to sea shells in the sea water. 5) since we are getting sea shells with size more than 4.6 mm we want to install filters in our premises (close to pai boundary) to tackle the problem. 6) before installing the filters we want to ensure that the sea shells are not growing inside our system and wants to get it studied by a consultant. 7) we were not having the sea shells problem till 2004 in our sea water supply system. So we would also like the consultant to study the reasons why we are getting the same now and any other remedial measures they can suggest for getting rid of the sea shells problem. This will involve biological study in the pai premises where the sea water is being taken from the sea.
