Pediatrics

Hi zintro expert, the zintro blog needs you! we are looking for expert opinions on the news mentioned below and would like to include your point of view. We realize your time is valuable, so here is a brief summary of what we are looking for: *a brief answer to the prompt about 1-2 paragraphs including your full name *participation is voluntary no payment will be involved *if chosen, you will be named in the post and we'll include a link to your zintro profile which will generate more visitors for you wondering what the post would look like? Here is a sample: http://blog.Zintro.Com/2012/01/16/keystone-xl-pipeline-pros-and-cons/ topic and prompt the american academy of pediatrics is calling for secondary schools to push back their start times by an hour or more to at least 8:30 a.M. The move would better align teens’ natural sleep patterns, which make it hard for them to fall asleep before 11 p.M., with school schedules, said the group, the nation’s largest organization of doctors who care for children. The litany of woes linked to a lack of sleep is long, going well beyond teenagers dozing off during first period or loading up on caffeinated drinks to stay awake. Along with suffering academic performance, sleep-deprived teens are more likely to have car accidents and to struggle with mental health issues including depression, and with weight gain, according to a policy statement published in the journal pediatrics. By the time they are in sixth grade, most american students are already falling short in the sleep department. Just 41 percent get the recommended 8.5 to 9.5 hours a night, according to a national sleep foundation poll. The statistics get worse as they get older, with 13 percent of high school students getting the amount of rest they need, the poll found. What are your thoughts about the aap’s announcement? Getting your name and expert opinion published on our blog is a great marketing opportunity. If interested, please send a response to the prompt via znotes within 1-2 days. Don't forget to include your full name. If you have any questions, please let us know. Thank you! the zintro blog team

Medical Device Development

Each year, nepdc partners with parents, clinicians, and advocacy groups to select a significant pediatric medical need and issues a target challenge to identify and solicit novel device concepts from academic and clinical institutions, industry, and the general public. A medical device could not only be used to treat or diagnose a disease, but to help facilitate care of the patient for the caregiver, or to improve the quality of life of the individual suffering from a disease. This might also be a component part, or accessory. We invite individuals, parents, caregivers and others who have recognized a pediatric need that could potentially be addressed by a new commercial device to share with us their idea. All ideas submitted to nepdc will be reviewed, and as funding cycles permit, we will choose from these ideas to create a target challenge. In these target challenges we will present these issues to our wide network of research and development partners to cultivate and stimulate innovative device solutions that can be commercialized. We are calling this program our “target challenge”. The winner of the target challenge will receive an award of up to $50,000 and 200 hours of nepdc time to help develop the idea. Won’t you please submit an idea for our next target challenge? It may be your idea that begins to provide a solution to a problem that has not yet been solved. Our date for choosing our next target challenge is april 14th-so i encourage you to make suggestions at your earliest convenience. Ideas can be submitted directly by sending an email.
