Wind Turbine Manufacturing

I need help to prepare an estimate cost for a small wind turbine manufacturing factory. The factory should be fully equipped to manufacture generators, blades, supporting arms for the blades, supporting hub for the generator and the supporting structure/pole for the whole wind turbine. Other than this, there would be inverters and controllers for the wind turbine manufactured in the same factory. There will be a packaging section too. The factory should be capable of producing up to 100 small wind turbine systems per day. This is for preparing a project report. For a wind turbine drive train expert - why aren't the generator and other electrical components mounted at the base of the turbine for easier installation and maintenance? This would also reduce tower top weight. A right angle drive at the top driving a vertical drive shaft would work. This arrangement would be especially effective for offshore wind turbines.

Wind Turbine Blade

Hello, i am a energy commerce major at texas tech university. I do not pretend to know the all the engineering thats goes into commercial windmills, but i had an idea for home windmills. I understand that commercial windmill blades are made out of carbon fiber because of its strength and light weight. I do believe this is where much of the cost of commercial windmills is incurred. I am proposing that home turbine blades can be made using thin aluminum metal and forming a hollow structure that can be pressurized with helium of the inside. The helium pressure gives the thin aluminum more strength and decreases it weight. It has been a while since a have taken chemistry so i'm not sure if the helium would diffuse through the aluminum or not my guess would be it would eventually. Therefore the inside of the blade would have to be coated with latex or something. Is this a dumb idea or could this possibly work?

Vertical-axis wind turbines (VAWT) are a type of wind turbine where the main rotor shaft runs vertically. Among the advantages of this arrangement are that generators and gearboxes can be placed close to the ground, and that VAWT do not need to be pointed into the wind. Major drawbacks for the early designs (savonius, darrieus, giromill and cycloturbine) included the pulsatory torque that can be produced during each revolution and the huge bending moments on the blades. Later designs like turby, quietrevolution and aerotecture solved the torque issue by using the helical twist of the blades, similar to Gorlov's water turbines.
