Shelley is a growth strategy consultant, executive coach and facilitator of change. Over the past 25 years, she has built leading consulting practices, and assisted her clients – the top executives and boards of private, public and social sector enterprises – accelerate business growth and deliver exceptional results.

In particular, she is known for forging and facilitating values-based partnerships – of business, government and nonprofit leaders, and the constituencies they serve – such that they shape, secure and sustain inspiring visions for social and economic advancement. Her expertise is in facilitating results-producing consensus among diverse stakeholders with differing agendas.

Currently, as founder and chief strategist of Somerville and Associates, based in Los Angeles, Shelley serves the CEOs and Boards of nonprofits and businesses – mainly those in the $50-500 million range – assisting them to resolve difficult issues, set new directions and bring about breakthroughs in performance.

Formerly, as a managing partner with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), she founded and led the Organization & Change Strategy practice, Enterprise Transformation program, M&A and Alliances Center of Excellence and Institute for Strategic Change – building and serving high-performing global enterprises.

In senior management roles with McKinsey and IBM, and as a founding member of A4SL Coaching & Consulting, she has assisted CEOs and their Boards create ventures, formulate strategies, grow businesses, strengthen leadership, forge alliances and deliver superior value – reliably and fast.

Shelley earned her MBA with High Distinction at Harvard Business School where she graduated as a Baker Scholar. She also holds master’s degrees in psychology and theology, and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.

She is a speaker, writer and teacher regarding strategic leadership, growth and change; co-editor of the Leader to Leader ‘Wisdom to Action’ book series; and a member of several ‘thought leader’ networks, including the Leader to Leader Forum.

Shelley is a Certified Director (UCLA Anderson School). Her board memberships have included the Leader to Leader Institute, Drucker School of Management, National Human Services Assembly, Human Spirit Initiative and Association for Strategic Planning.

She has been described by Peter Drucker, the founding father of modern management, as: “the best facilitator of meetings, conferences and work groups I have ever met”.
